What others say About 13 Skirts:
"the Queens of Philadelphia Improv." Philadelphia City Paper
"Thirteen Skirts is innovative and laugh-out-loud funny. Their format is unlike anything I've seen in Philadelphia, their material is smart and their members include some of the fiercest and funnniest improvisers in town-male or female."

13 Skirts Cast Skirtographies
Mary "purty skirt" Carpenter: Mary owns 16 skirts, 17 if you count the skort. Her duties as improviser, director, actor, teacher, mother, wife and Nancy Sinatra enthusiast call for her to don skirts from time to time; but, mostly, they just hang in the closet poised for that "special event" which seemd so inevitable at the time of purchase. She dabbled with kulats in the mid 1980's, but realized she was just living a lie as they were just pants with ambition. Mary serves as co-artistic director of Skirts and has been improvising for the past 20 years; most notably as a 14 year company member of ComedySportz Philadelphia . She's trained with Keith Johnstone, Mick Napier, Joe Bill, Jeff Wirth and the Harlem Globetrotters.
Karen "dirty skirt" Getz: Karen wears her skirt as a weapon. Yours is only thigh high?? She scoffs at you!! When not hanging with the women of Skirts, she's hanging with the men and women of Lunchlady Doris and ComedySportz. She runs Tapestry Theatre (Philadelphia's first theatre compnay whose mission is to bring work to women theatre artists), with co-Skirt/Doris/ComedySportz member Kelly Jennings. She often gets nominated for Barrymore awards for her choreograpghy. She hasn't won one yet.
Kelly "desserty skirt" Jennings: Kelly prefers play clothes to dress clothes; boy clothes to girl clothes. Nonetheless, Kelly does own girl clothes and has been seen wearing skirts in public at business meetings, funerals and weddings. On stage Kelly has worn a skirt in productions for many theatre companies, which is why you may not have recognized her. Kelly wears skirts under duress. That means protest, not that she wears a skirt under her dress.
Micheline "subverty skirt" McManus: For a long time, Micheline was afraid of the skirt. She was not a tomboy, she just had no style. After much reading of Betty Friedan and viewing TLC's A Makeover Story, however, she has realized that skirts are both the last vestige of femininity left in an increasingly unisex society and very flattering. As co-artistic director of 13 Skirts, Micheline wears her skirt to subvert the dominant paradigm and to master that tricky transition from work to evening wear.
Jessie "alerty skirt" Preisendorfer: Jessie wore skirts regualrly until Satan told her to stop. She eventually put on pants but now you-know-who has been leaving her messages on her internal voicemail asking her to "please call him." She worries about what he wants. She's been a long time member of ComedySportz and if she can't wear pants, she doesn't know what she'll do. She just doesn't. She really doesn't.
K "wordy skirt" Richardson: Classic, yet unconventional, K can take or leave the skirt. This Germantown Academy theatre teacher and accomplished actress is not beholden to any "dress code," but believes that the word should suit the action, and the action is in the suit.
Cheryl "flirty skirt" Wise: Cheryl is not afraid to use her skirt, and believes that the hem justifies the means. A Phd. and ComedySportz veteran, Cheryl wields her skirts with pride and is not afraid to use her powers for good or evil depending on the situation.
